Art.1 – Admitted vehicles

Only 4X4 cross-country motor vehicles with a total weight of 5,5 ton, excluded vehicles provided with methane and/or gpl system, can be registered.

Series Group vehicles must be given a number-plate regularly according to the rules of the road and must be insured. Prepared Group vehicles must be given a number-plate regularly according to the rules of the road. According to Special Group vehicles there’s no obligation of registration. Vehicles with foreign plates are admitted in each class , on the condition that the contestant / driver (of any nationality) is a personal insurance holder .The organization will provide in case of missing insurance.

TECHNICAL REGULATIONS

A) VEHICLES

Art.2 – Vehicles mentioned above in Art.1 are divided in the following groups ,which must be scheduled compulsorily in the individual events :

2.1 – Series Group Vehicles
2.2 – Prepared Group Vehicles
2.3 – Special Group Vehicles

In all the groups , with the exception of Special Group Vehicles , all the braking systems aimed at differentiate braking action of one or more wheels compared to others, obtained either by changing the existing system or by addition of supplementary systems are forbidden.

The vehicle will be assigned to the membership group according to the certificate signed by the contestant ; after the vehicle’s technical checks, in case of non-compatibility with the group, you will be moved to the right class. You can register in to the higher classes after the organization has checked technically the vehicle.

Art.3 – Series Group Vehicles

This group is about vehicles made in at least 1000 identical models in 12 consecutive months, registered and sanctioned according to the existing rules by the vehicle licensing office in that version. All the vehicles belonging to this group must be given a number-plate regularly, registered and insured. The only changes admitted are :

3.1- adoption of sanctioned pneumatics for the road circulation (Cross, Super Cross, Bab Cross excluded) though remaining valid the limitations of which section II paragraph C. the wheels must remain in each case inside of the shape described by the mudguards.

3.2- elimination or substitution of the bumper, subdoor and footrests with following replacement of headlights and sidelights.

3.3- removal on torpedo vehicles of the hard top or cloth top, side doors and windscreen excluded.
3.4- addition of any kind of protection for the mechanical organs and for the bodywork on the condition that it doesn’t have other function than the protective one.

3.5- a rise of the body, equal to 3 inches or 7 cm with the adoption of distances between the bodywork and the car frame in order to have a “bodylift”(increase of the total height compared to the tires) and/or with the adoption of elastic elements different from the originals but keeping the original junctions, is admitted. It’s forbidden to switch from leaf spring and vice versa or mixed systems , systems which allow the release of the spring from the reinforcement on the car frame or SPOA modifies on leaf spring vehicles.

3.6- adoption of shock absorbers different from the originals as long as the originals junctions are used.

3.7- substitution of front seats with anatomical seats provided with headrest and concerning competition’s seat belts (see art.8.2).

3.8- adoption of the lock off of any kind of back/front gearing , with the inclusion of works aimed at the assembly of the same.

3.9- adoption of bumper or a similar reinforced structure to allow the pulley lodging.

3.11- adoption of an electric, hydraulic or mechanical pulley, commercial type to which no change is allowed.

3.12- adoption of increased alternators and batteries and/or double alternator and batteries.

3.13- substitution or elimination of the stabilizer bar.

3.14- adoption of an appropriate relation to gear/reducer or to car deck (conical couples) for the assembly of the allowed tires.

Art.4- Prepared Group Vehicles

These are vehicles which come from series models which must be given a number-plate even if they are modified and must keep the basic characteristics concerning the car frame and bodywork which must be present and identify well the model. In addition to allowed changes for the Series Group Vehicles, the only accepted modifies are :

1) doors removal as long as a hard control system made of a metal car frame and a non-elastic net provided with a maximum of 10 cm mesh is installed.
2) removal of all the glasses with the exception of the windscreen, particular substitution of bodywork with others provided with similar shape but different material.
3) shrinkage of bodywork and car frame to improve the distinctive angles ( junction and way out), maintaining the limits for the tires shape which can’t run out of the dimension of the vehicle in front and in the back.
4) according to closed vehicles it is possible to remove the back portion of bodywork to convert them in to pick up version.
5) installation of tubular protections ( rollcage type) positioned out of the bodywork. The plates, even if modified, must be kept in the original position, in particular the mudguards. We specify that the protection structure must be outlined along the bodywork horizontal line maintaining the original encumbrances. “Wing bar” structures to reduce the vehicle original width are not accepted.
6) elaboration of the original engine or its substitution, with no chance of outsourcing of the cooling radiator.
7) adoption of tires remaining valid the limits concerning section II paragraph C. The tire’s surface can be exposed by the mudguards on a vertical line.
8) adoption of shock-absorber different from the original ones even not using the original junctions. Change of elastic elements of the original suspension, also detachable from the car frame (staccamolla) even if they change the height of the vehicle, according to the limits shown in the art.7.12. It’s forbidden, if not scheduled, to install adjustment systems of the height from the ground, hydraulic, pneumatic or similar.
9) substitution of relations of the gear and/or reducer.
10) substitution and/or change of the decks, even changing the roadway and the braking systems put on compared to the ones originally installed ( from drums to disks and/or vice versa), decks c.d “ portal” assembly or transformation of decks existing in the above-mentioned configuration excluded ; the passage from free suspensions to hard deck and/or vice versa is allowed.
11) addition of a power steering ,also homemade workmanship, even if not series scheduled. Addition of supplementary pistons helping the normal steering system.
12) A rise of the total body equal to 150 mm with the adoption of steering wheel adapter between the bodywork and car frame to get a “bodylift”(an increase of the total height of the bodywork compared to pneumatics)or with the adoption of elastic elements different from the originals.
13) Adoption of at the most two electric, hydraulic or mechanical commercial pulleys, modified in the engine and in the engagement/disengagement clutch system. The “commercial winch” are pulleys identifiable through make and model, available at the normal commercial channel and not unique model or amateurishly in small series.

Art.5- Special Group Vehicles

Special vehicles are considered the ones made in a unique model or the ones of production, elaborated beyond the limits allowed in the previous groups. Any kind of modify or solution is admitted as long as the car frame is connected to the wheels through an elastic system of suspensions. More than two pulleys are allowed. According to the pneumatics all the limits quoted in section II, paragraph C are valid. We specify that in case of missing doors and windows ,some protection structures provided with non elastic nets with a maximum of 10x10 cm mesh.

Art.6- Security rules and the minimal compulsory equipments:

All the vehicles must be compulsorily provided with the following security devices:

6.1- Roll-bar

Series - In case of vehicles with open bodywork, the tubular used against the wind provided at least with one arc must be positioned behind the back seats. It will be considered a one arc roll-bar the arc scheduled originally by the company, when it is bolted or welded rigidly to the bodywork. Even if it’s recommended, it’s not requested for the closed vehicles with metallic roof.
Prepared and special – the vehicles (closed and open) must have a 6 junctions roll-bar.

According to every open class vehicle, a metallic protected hood needs to be installed in the roll-bar above the driver's seat.

It’s absolutely forbidden attaching any part of the car and the seats to the roll-bar with any system. According to cars provided with a body completely remade by a fiberglass, Kevlar, or others non metallic materials (which don’t have more footholds strong enough),installing two crosspieces on the car frame on which the seats will be then attached (the crosspieces and the fixings must be strong enough).

6.2- Seatbelts:

Even if the adoption of competition seats and seatbelts approved by the F.I.A is recommended, according to the Series and Prepared Group vehicles, the by highway code seatbelts can be maintained, keeping the original seats or installing anatomical reclining seats. It’s also mandatory installing seatbelts with at least 4 junctions in case of installing competition seats “shell-like”. According to Special vehicles, seatbelts provided with at least 4 junctions with fast release, even if the approval is expired, are compulsory.

6.3- Tow hooks:

For each category at least two front and back tow hooks are mandatory. They have to be attached to the car frame and indicated with a yellow triangle with the point turned to the junction. The printed tinplate rings and the ball-shaped hooks derived from motoring are not considered as “tow hooks”.

6.4- Fire extinguisher:

Each vehicle must always keep on board a dust extinguisher charged with at least 2 kg and easily reachable by the crew.

6.5- Vehicles which show dangerous elements might not be admitted to the manifestation.

6.6- according to the special vehicles, the radiator and the relative fan, the battery, the tank, the abduction pipes, if situated inside the car, must be protected to avoid liquid projections towards the crew.

B) PULLEYS

The busy pulleys can be mechanical, electromechanical or hydraulic and have a nominal pulling ability of at least 8.000 lb. Each pulley must be provided with an automatic mechanical brake and will be able to install either metallic or synthetic cables with a minimal thickness of 8 mm.
The cables must be in perfect conditions at the beginning of the manifestation and might be verified by the Organization in every moment of the manifestation.
A substitution might be requested if the Organization thinks they are not safe anymore, because they show special and remarkable malformations (crushings, permanent deformations, braking of the strands of rope, rust, frayings, etc.). In case of cable braking during the test, the substitution is possible if the original condition is reinstated. The textile cables reparations are admitted, but they are checked by the test chief, which can consider them not suitable for the test. In this case the participants will have to substitute the whole cable. If this is not possible, the test will be considered interrupted and “out of time-limit” penalties will be added to the timing of the passed doors. The braking of the steel cable implies its substitution or necessary shortening. If this can’t be done, possible reparations makeshift with clamps, strangle wrappings on the drum, or similar techniques are admitted, in order to free the test through the easiest way and the quickest time possible, considering that the “out of time-limit” penalties will be added to the timing of the passed doors. The addition of a steel cable is not admitted. Then the competitor will show at the next section with the cable in perfect conditions. The Organization will not allow the start of the competitor at one or more tests, applying the “test refusal” penalty, if he shows up with pulley and/or its accessories not safe considered by the test chief.

The use of the textile cable is allowed only together with “bocca guida” aluminum cable or similar. It’s forbidden to use textile cables with the steel cable roller.

C) PNEUMATICS

According to the SERIES GROUP the maximum height permitted is 86 cm or an extension ofl 272 cm. According to the PREPARED GROUP, pneumatics with a height higher than 93 cm or an extension of 298 cm are not admitted; according to the SPECIAL GROUP pneumatics even if not approved for the road use (cross, super cross, bab cross) are admitted, with a maxim height of 112 cm or an extension of 358 cm. For each class, pneumatics with an agricultural (tractor) or road type. The dimensional check of the pneumatic will be make, in case of appeal, through the measurement of the pneumatic’s real circumference with a tape measure located in the centre of the same pneumatic.
